PREMISE.

PREMISE

You wake up on a train.

Where are you? Why did you wake up?

Your phone is buzzing. It's in your pocket, in your hand, on the seat next to you. It's a normal phone, and you're on a normal train car. One of the lights flickers, a little further down. The world is very quiet. It feels like you're right where you're meant to be. On the phone's surface is a white screen and the words—

WELCOME TO THE CITY. BEGIN ORIENTATION?

▶ YES
▶ NO

Answer the questions. Did you answer the questions?

You manage to exit the train, and when you do, you find yourself in a city. Where are you? The city is empty except for some others, like yourself, who have come here from other realms. Isn't it lovely and interesting to meet new people and experience new things? Try your best to get along with the others around you. Teamwork makes the dream work, after all. And explore as much as you want—the city has everything you could possibly need.

The sky above you is a perfect blue; the sun on your face is a perfect warmth; all around you is a perfect place, ready to provide for you in any way you can imagine.

You have arrived in The City.

The City is a pan-fandom game taking place in an empty, idyllic utopian city that most certainly wants what's best for its residents. By all appearances, the setting is a small- to medium-sized American city in the late 2000s, with all the trappings and technology that implies. The game incorporates themes of liminal spaces, slice-of-life survival, and mild spookiness (but nearly nothing that can't be avoided).

The city is welcoming to almost all, no invitation needed. The city is only looking for the right people to make this place their new home, after all. Characters will have to work together (or separately!) to uncover the mysteries of their surroundings—what is this place? What does it want from them? And what happened to those who came before?
