Hiatuses cannot exceed a duration of 4 weeks. If you have extenuating circumstances, please contact the mods.
Players can only take a hiatus once every three months. In order to take back-to-back hiatuses, players must use a “get-out-of-jail-free card,” which can be received via overflow rewards, or their once-yearly free AC coupon.
To avoid a strike, hiatuses must be submitted before the 15th of the month. Players do not need to post activity check while you are on hiatus; you only need to link your hiatus comment under your activity check top-level (see below for code).
While you are on hiatus, your character can…
Run on auto-pilot. If you have a vague sense of what they'll be doing, it might be a good idea to let your CR know (this is optional).
Fall into a medical coma and be taken to an unknown area. Upon their return, they will not remember where they went.
Walk off into the undiscovered areas of the city. Upon their return, your character will look a little worse for wear and be full of the kind of dread that sticks with you after waking from a bad dream.
Experience something else not on this list as long as it doesn't affect the plot of the game.
Players may cancel a hiatus and post AC instead if circumstances change. To cancel a hiatus, please respond to the mod comment acknowledging your hiatus and let us know that you want to cancel it. This must be done before 11:59 PM PST on the 25th of the month. The mods will then confirm the cancellation of your hiatus.
HOW TO POST A HIATUS
In order to take a hiatus, a player must do two things:
Post to this page using the code below to inform the mod team of their hiatus.
Post the hiatus code below under their activity check toplevel with the correct month's header, the same way one would to post regular activity.
DROPS.
After a character is dropped, the same player cannot re-app the dropped character for 2 app cycles. This means that a character dropped in July is eligible to be re-apped in October.
When a character leaves the city for any reason, all evidence of their existence is wiped from the city itself. Their whereabouts are not known to other characters who may believe them to be missing for some period of time before coming to the conclusion that they aren't coming back.
Characters who knew them will retain all memories of them, but otherwise, there’s no proof that they were here to begin with. Any items gained or collected from the game setting will reset to their original locations, and any items brought with the character, either on arrival or through activity rewards, will disappear.
